Beneath The Surface' is an editorial book which informs parents/caregivers about what their child goes through with social anxiety and ways to help them, which has two sections. The first section, 'To understand me', explains what social anxiety is, its effects, and symptoms. The second, 'To support me', provides guidance on how the parents can support their child through this.

The aim of this book is to inform older generations about an aspect of mental health in younger generations, doing this through social anxiety as it is one of the most common mental health disorders, with it steadily rising in younger generations.

The red textured shapes within this book represent those who have social anxiety; a lot of these shapes differ from one another throughout the book depending on the situation or circumstance it is representing. I have chosen to do this as each experience is unique from another. The circular, black textured shapes, represent those who do not have social anxiety. The two main textures I have used extend the narrative by adding a stronger connection to these feelings, having a scratchy, texture for the anxious shapes, and a straight, simple texture for the circular shapes, in aim to help further visualise the contrast between those who are anxious and those who are not.
